Last Day
It's the last day of school all around but our family's last day at The Little Nursery School. We will all miss Mrs. Hodge. She lights up when she sees the kids each day and has taught David and Tom so much.

Kindle
Alex got a Kindle for his birthday and enough Amazon bucks to keep him reading all summer. This is how I found him this morning.

Jameson
We picked Jameson and my mom up at the airport on Tuesday and whisked them to Five Guys for the best burgers in Connecticut.
Wednesday we went to Six Flags and I rode the Hellevator with him and then felt a little shaken so my mom rode Bizarro with him. Think the biggest, longest, scariest roller coaster and then you'll know what she went through for love!
Yesterday we went to a mall and then after school I took Alex to his new middle school to check out books for over the summer. I think that is so cool, the librarian said she'd rather see the books read than sitting in the library all summer. Jameson loves to read too and a few weeks ago he told me about a new YA book by Jeff Probst of Survivor. We all love Survivor so I quickly reserved it at the public library and we've been waiting ever since. Jameson and I were sitting and waiting for Alex and chatting with the librarian and she gave one of the book displays a spin and Jamie said, "there it is!" So he grabbed it, Alex checked it out and now he's halfway through and Jameson is being a good boy and keeping the spoilers to himself!

Monday
It's Monday again! I have a shit ton of things to do today:
Moms Club board meeting (hopefully one of my last ones since anothersucker volunteer has stepped up to be treasurer.)
Laundry-my goal is four loads washed, dried, folded and PUT AWAY.
Grocery shopping-this will be more fun since I can plant a fake shopping list. I thought of a new one: Metamucil, Colace, Miralax, Preparation H, Tucks, Anusol, Popsicles.
Clean as much as I can today for impending visit from my mom and nephew.
Five of the 5,4,3,2,1 countdown to Matt's last day.
Screen-free afternoon since David and Alex are in trouble. David woke me up from a nap on the couch to troubleshoot the Wii and I was like a bear with a thorn in it's paw and told him he will be screen free today as a result and Alex was told to clean off the dining room table twice and didn't do it.
And, either a baseball playoffs game or more likely with the forecast middle school family reading night for me, Alex & Tom and Cub Scout crossover for David and Allan.

Weekend Highlights:
I ran a 5K with a friend and she told me about The Book Barn a place about an hour away that has approx 500,000 used books and is sorted into different buildings by subject. I was ready to jump in my car and go but we were too busy.
Alex's 12th birthday party-we had 3 friends over to eat pizza and cake and then go to Six Flags to ride rides. They were absolutely wild and a good time was had by all. They made custom dog tags in a machine there for their party favors and I got a real chuckle over what they put on them.

Wonderful Words
Allan said the most wonderful thing this morning.
It was, "don't talk to your mother like that!"

Amusement
Is it bad that I'm less mature than all three of my children? I'm going to plant these shopping lists in local grocery carts. They give these notepads out to parents on the first open house at the schools and I can't think of a better use for them. Laughing my ass off will make my next two shopping trips more fun.

Tired
I'm tired and it's my own fault. I have a hard time making myself go to sleep when Allan is gone. Add that to the fact that we had four unwatched episodes of Mad Men and I was up until two. Dummy!

Free Lunch
When I was a kid our next door neighbor was notoriously cheap. When the local small grocery store had it's annual birthday celebration and you could get a hot dog and drink for a quarter she would bring her family of five for lunch and dinner all week long. She once bragged to my mom that she could get by with using only two disposable diapers a day. So I often compare my actions to hers, WWBID? If my frugality crosses the line into BI cheapness I back off. A bit.
Allan will be in Vermont for work this week and my mom bought us the meal plan at Six Flags this summer so every time we visit the park we get lunch and dinner. I like to keep things as easy as possible when single parenting and making dinner is something I like to cut back on. Would it be okay to take them to Six Flags for dinner one night? How long would we have to stay to call it a park visit instead of a free meal grab? You might be chuckling but Allan is thanking his lucky stars that he doesn't have to go along!
If my dad could comment he would say, "never turn down money or a free meal." But then the next time I talked to him he'd probably call me Bones which was his nickname for our neighbor.

Fun Day
We had a great day yesterday. Allan's Aunt Linda & Uncle Bill stopped by to visit on their way home from Boston. They took us to lunch and we went to Alex's baseball game. Lunch was great but our order was messed up, the bill was messed up, everything took waaay too long, and our baseball team lost 15-0. So what should have been a terrible day was wonderful because of good company. I really picked a good family to marry into ;)
Here is the picture Bill took:
